Children's Sunday School
The Children's Sunday School has recently undergone a renovation. The decor is now child friendly and the lessons are age appropriate. The department is excited about these changes and it has been a success among the children.
The classes are divided into Preschool (ages 2-5), Grades 1-3, and Young Christians (grades 4-12). The children participate in group prayer, special offerings for charities, and fellowship with one another. Once a month there is a planned outing like movie nights, hayrides through pumpkin patches, making items and baking cookies for our shut-ins, and Christmas caroling just to name a few. One Sunday a month they enjoy a Fun Activity Day in lieu of the regular lesson.
The activities for the Preschool and Grades 1-3 classes include songs, a story, a craft, a memory verse from the Bible, activity pages, and snack time. Every child has the opportunbity to earn tokens that can be redeemed for a prize. Learning is made fun, and the children are excited to come to Sunday School each week.
The Young Christians meet in a fun and relaxed atmosphere called the "Young Christians Lounge." In that setting, they focus on how to use their faith and God's teachings in their day-to-day living. They accomplish this through a series of videos, games, Bible study, testimony, and discussion. Together they are building a foundation of faith that will support them through young adulthood.
The motto of the Children's Sunday School Department is "Learning and Fellowship for a Brighter Tomorrow." For the children, it's all about giving back to the community and sharing some of their blessings with those who are less fortunate. The money that they raise through fundraisers helps with supplies, snacks, prizes, and gifts. Funds are also used to help offset the cost of outings and the Vacation Bible School that is offered in the summer.
The department also assists the children with supporting various charities, special charity projects for the Young Christians, the Christmas Pageant, and Vacation Bible School.
Sunday School is a fun place to be!!
